SPEAKER: Gerry Walsh (Procurement Director, London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games; former President of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply)

TITLE: “Gold Standard Procurement for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games”
Gerry Walsh will share with the audience the challenges and approaches to procurement that were adopted in the lead-up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In particular, Gerry was responsible for driving a sustainable approach to procurement and giving strong support to SMEs with 70 per cent of suppliers classified as such. Leading a procurement team of thirty people, with buyers stationed within functions, he transformed the way procurement was done at the organisation and delivered around £114 million in savings - beating a target of £75 million.
